Thames Valley graduation rates hit record high

Thames Valley’s high school graduation rate hit a record high 83 per cent last year – the highest rate ever achieved by the Board and the fourth consecutive year graduation rates held above 80 per cent.

“Despite the obstacles to teaching and learning created by the COVID-19 pandemic last year, we succeeded in providing our students with the supports they needed to graduate,” said Mark Fisher, TVDSB Director of Education.

The Board’s commitment to equity and to providing individualized support for all students was a key contributor to the increase in graduation rates, added Director Fisher.

“This is the result of a multi-year initiative to improve graduation rates,” said Director Fisher. “From the moment a student registers in a Thames Valley school, our educators are focused on helping them leave high school with a diploma in their hands.”

Thames Valley is committed to supporting students in achieving key milestones in their learning journeys through responsive instructional and assessment practices. Staff remain focused on supporting students as they progress towards graduation.
